- Ask the same questions your guest is asked on every other podcast they’ve been on.
- Ask very open-ended questions.
- Ask questions you already know the answer to.
- Make sure to show off how smart you (the host) are.
- Leave in all of the false starts. (The host asks a question, and the guest immediately starts talking, usually something like, “Let’s see here…” or, “That’s a great question..I…I…think…that…uhm…”, or “Well…”, and then starts the actual good answer.)
- Don’t edit out the “Welcome to the show!” and “Thanks so much for having me on. I’m excited to be here!” boilerplate that every recording starts with.
- Leave in all the uhs/uhms/ and random tangents the guest goes on, no matter how they relate to the initial question or conversation as a whole.
- Never, under any circumstance, ask a follow-up question. When the guest is done talking, immediately move on to the next question you have.
